It's not OK!

If you are not aware by now, the LRA and Northern Uganda Recovery Act bill’s passage has been stopped by Senator Tom Coburn of OKlahoma.
Joseph Kony’s child soldiers are continuing to live in fear of rape and death!

As non-OKlahoma residents, we can still do our part to help change this by signing up tell Senator Coburn: Ending Kony's violence must come first – pass it on and have everyone sign up. Have more than just one e-mail address? I’m sure that could work on our favor – sign up with all of them!

Building a SMILE.

Another year has flown by; Christmas is around the corner!

What better way to give this holiday season than by helping Miami Children’s Hospital collect toys for sick children?
Spread the word and donate as many toys as possible by November, 23rd, 2009.

Toys can be for boys and girls, anywhere from 3 months to 19 years old.

For safety purposes, toys MUST:
- be new
- be unwrapped
- not require the use of batteries.

Have one or 30 toys to give? Call (786) 260-8499, we'll pick them up!!!

The more, the merrier!
These toys will not only be handed out as Christmas presents, but they will also be handed out throughout the year (birthdays, after each chemotherapy treatment, etc.).

Want to show off your musical talent or cooking skills? Be our guest!
MCH's Christmas' Party is taking place on December 6th, 2009. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, finger foods, decorations, entertainers, and gift certificates are all welcome.

We thank you in advance, and always remember, 'the greatest gift we have is the gift of life'. - Unknown.

You get one life, but a million different ways to live it!

“War is a choice. It is a choice your generation does not have to make” – Tom Shadyac

For over 20 years, Joseph Kony has abducted, tortured and murdered thousands of children. InvisibleChildren is a non-profit organization committed to end Africa’s longest running war. IC’s mission is to arrest Kony and free the child soldiers.
Being part of InvisibleChildren for the past 8 months has forever changed the way I interpret life, and it could do the same to you. Together, we have the power to change the world!
Here are two of my most memorable experiences:

- The Rescue: On April, 2009, thousands of people across the world slept out on the streets until the media and a mogul showed up at the site. Our goal was to raise awareness; we even made it to the Oprah Show!

- How it Ends: On June 2009, I had the honor and priviledge to attend the biggest U.S lobbying day ever for Africa in history. I flew to Washington D.C and slept on the floor of a church with over 400 people for three nights. We had to share bathrooms; there were no showers or privacy! Over 2,000 people from all over the world attended the event. We went to the Congress and each person met with their State’s senators and representatives in hopes of getting their support to pass the Bill to President Obama, for it is needed in order to apprehend Joseph Kony.

Raise Awareness! Let's help the invisible become VISIBLE!!!

I am poor, but my life is rich.

Do we really know where the money we give to the homeless people goes? Does it end up in the hands of a McDonald’s cashier, or of a drug-dealer down the street? We really don’t know, but this shouldn’t stop us from trying to help the needy. Here are some ideas:

* Clean out your closets! Your old, out-of-style, and ugly clothes will help the homeless stay dressed and warm. CamillusHouse is always accepting donations!

* Keep LoveBags in your car. Fill a zip-loc bag with granola bars and small water bottles. Keep them in your car. See a homeless on the street? Hand them out!

* Tag along with TheMiamiBurritoProject. Get together with your friends and make burritos. Take a walk around Downtown Miami while the sun sets and feed the hungry.

Real love is when you become selfless...

We live in a fast-paced environment, where the easier it is to do something, the better. We look for shortcuts and rely on technology to get through the day. Often, our minds and bodies become so accustomed to the routine that we are blinded from seeing and appreciating life’s true beauty. Many of us find satisfaction in driving the newest car, others by indulging in the finest restaurants, showing off the latest trend or possibly wearing the rarest jewelry….I mean, who wouldn’t?
Yet, where did we leave our humanistic values?

I invite you to join me and ‘TheWishJar’ in a life-changing experience, in stepping out of the materialistic prison and stepping into the reality that surrounds us. I guarantee that the knowledge, awakening, and fulfillment you will get from helping a stranger, feeding a homeless, bringing joy to sick children, and saving a life will be priceless!

Stay tuned to find out about many different ways you can get involved!
